Hexataire, Part 2 - Followup

Are you looking to inject some fresh excitement into your card game repertoire? Look no further than Hexataire! If you've ever found yourself in a Solitaire slump, this game promises a solution and an abundance of strategic opportunities waiting to be explored. It's time to dive in and give it a shot!

The Game's Guidelines

So, how does Hexataire work? It's pretty straightforward. To begin, you must construct a formation comprising five distinct "zones":

·         The Eye: This is where you'll stash all those unused cards, neatly stacked face down.

·         The Hexataire: This central area features six face-up cards, forming a hexagon around The Eye.

·         A Stopwatch: Keep this handy to meticulously track the time you invest in your gaming endeavors.

·         A Sheet of Paper: A simple tool for jotting down the number of times you decide to hit the reset button.

·         Seven Homecards: These are your ultimate destination, the holy grail you strive to reach.

Much like traditional Solitaire, the objective involves stacking numbers in descending order while ensuring they match in terms of color. Utilize The Eye for drawing extra cards, leverage Aces as wild cards, or reset that stopwatch and give your card deck a good shuffle. Your score hinges on the number of attempts multiplied by the time it takes you, so strive to outperform your pals or set a new personal record!

Our Target Audience

Hexataire caters to a specific crowd – the card game targets the teen to young adult age bracket.

We recognized that Solitaire, with its need for unwavering concentration and patience, might not be the most appealing choice for younger generations. However, our innovative card reset mechanism and stopwatch manipulation introduce an enticing element of risk versus reward. Players now have the freedom to mix things up or play it safe, adding a layer of excitement to the classic game.

Nevertheless, be encouraged if you're not part of the teen to young adult demographic. As long as you grasp the rules, Hexataire can provide entertainment and enjoyment for players of all ages!

Navigating Through the Problems We Encountered

During the development of Hexataire, a few things about our work process needed to be reflected on.

Although we both shared similar ideas for revamping Solitaire, we inadvertently created a rule sheet that made perfect sense but might have left others scratching their heads. Communication also posed a challenge; our ideas on how we could alter Hexataire didn't always come across to the other person, and scheduling meetings were occasionally akin to solving a puzzle in itself. Reflecting on these hiccups, it's clear that a more organized and structured workflow would have been a boon.

Despite these initial hurdles, we managed to overcome them and enhance Hexataire during the latter stages of development. Our commitment to self-improvement allowed us to turn these challenges into stepping stones toward creating an engaging and enjoyable card game for players of all ages.
